Dr. Wayne Spear was the Professor of Systematic Theology at Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary for over thirty years. He was the quintessential professor—brilliant in his field, crystalline in his teaching, genteel in his manner, and pastoral with his students.
Through many of those years, Wayne’s wife, Mary, served as the receptionist at RPTS. At that time, the Main Office was in the Dickson Study. Mary greeted everyone who walked through the door with her joyful smile, encouraging words, and ready servant spirit.
Wayne & Mary represent the best of RPTS. As such, the Board of the seminary voted unanimously to name the site where people first enter Rutherford Hall “The Wayne and Mary Spear Welcome Center” as an honor fitting to their testimony and ministry.
